Study Material / Modes of Learning

 

The following modes of learning shall be adopted:-

 

a) Self Learning Material (SLM): The self learning material shall be supplied to the students as per

b) Audio-Video Aids: Audio-Video aids shall also be supplied as per the availability.

c) On-Line Programmes: The effort is underway to get on line for admission, registration, teaching and issuing of diplomas etc.

 

The first set of study material shall be sent after the receipt of the first installment of the course fee i.e.,

Rs. 10,000/- along with the registration fee of Rs. 800/- through a bank draft drawn in favor of “ The Director, DLI, BIMM”, payable at Pune with the application form.

 

The second set of study material shall be sent on receipt of second installment of the course fee i.e. Rs.5,000/-

 

The third set of study material shall be sent on receipt of third installment of the course fee i.e. Rs.5,000/-

 

Assignments

 

1. Assignments constitute continuous evaluation. The submission of assignments is compulsory. The percentage of marks that you get in your assignments shall be counted for your final result as per 30% of weightage.

 

2. All the assignments shall be submitted before the end of each term and maximum of two weeks delay shall only be permitted.

 

3. Each assignment shall be evaluated by a qualified evaluator and the assessment sheet shall only be returned to the student.

 

4. Name, Registration Number, Subject and e-mail id should be quoted invariably on the first page of assignment.

 

5. Each Assignment must accompany, a Self Addressed Post Card for Acknowledgement purpose.

 

Late Submission of Assignments
In case the students cannot submit the assignments for one reason or the other within the stipulated period they can still continue the course and submit the assignments with a Late Fee as prescribed in this brochure

 

Re-submission of Assignments
If you fail in any assignment, then you have to re-submit the same and for that, you have to ask for/obtain a fresh assignment for that course.  However, once you get the pass grade in any assignment, you cannot re-submit it for improvement of grade. Assignments are not subject to reevaluation except for factual errors, if any, committed by the evaluator.

 

Retention of Assignments
We will not be able to return your assignments because evaluated assignments are required to be retained for maintaining the record of the same. You are, therefore, advised to prepare the assignments in Duplicate so that you can submit one copy to us and retain the other copy with you.  However, the evaluation report of each assignment shall be sent to you.

 

GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT COURSE (MS-100)

 

Objective

 

1. The objective of the project is to help the student develop ability to apply multi-disciplinary concepts, tools and techniques to solve organisational problems.

 

Type of Project

 

2. The project may be from any one of the following types and preferably from your area of specialisation:

i) Comprehensive case study (covering single organisation/multifunctional area problem, formulation, analysis and recommendations).

ii) Inter-organisational study aimed at inter-organisational comparison/validation of theory/survey of management practices.

iii) Field study (empirical study).

PROJECT PROPOSAL (SYNOPSIS)

 

Proposal Formulation

3. Synopsis of the project should be prepared in consultation with the project supervisor (Faculty of BIMS) and be sent to The Registrar, BIMS, Pune- 411033. The synopsis should clearly state the objectives and research methodology of the proposed project to be undertaken. It should have full detail of the rationale, sampling, instruments to be used, limitations if any, and future directions for further research etc.

 

Project Proposal Submission and Approval

4. The Students should send the Project proposal proforma along with two copies of the synopsis of their project during the Vth semester to enable us to approve the same before the expiry of Vth semester itself to enable the students to go through their project work and internship simultaneously during the VIth semester.

 

Communication of Approval

5. A written communication regarding the approval/non-approval of the project will be sent to the student.

 

Resubmission of Project Proposal

6. In case of non-approval of the proposal the comments/suggestions for reformulating the project will be communicated to the student. In such a case the revised project synopsis should be submitted with revised project proposal proforma.

 

PROJECT REPORT

 

Formulation

7. i) The length of the report may be about 50 to 60 double spaced typed pages not exceeding approximately 18,000 words (excluding appendices and exhibits). However 10% variation on either side is permissible.

ii) Each project report must adequately explain the research methodology adopted and the directions for future research.

iii) The project report should also contain the following:

a) Copy of the Project Proposal proforma and synopsis

b) Certificate of originality duly signed by the student

 

Submission of Project Report

 

8. One typed copy of the project report is to be submitted to the Registrar, BIMS, Pune. As soon as you submit the Project Report, a Project Report No. would be allotted which will be communicated to the student. Student should quote this P.R.No. while corresponding with the institute regarding Project Report. Project Report can be submitted at any time within VI semester.

 

SOME IMPORTANT NOTES WHILE PREPARING THE PROJECT PROPOSAL

 

1. Send two copies of the Project Synopsis, and retain one copy with you.

 

2. “MS-100” should be written prominently on the envelope and should be addressed to The Registrar, BIMS, Pune.

 

3. Ensure the inclusion of the following while submitting the Proposal:

a) Proforma for Approval of Project Proposal, duly filled and signed by the student.

b) Synopsis of the Project (Two Copies)

 

4. The Synopsis of your Project Proposal should include the following:

 

a) Rationale for the study

b) Objectives of the study

c) Research Methodology to be used for carrying out the study (detailing- nature of data, data sources, collection methods, tools and techniques of analysis, sampling etc.)

d) The expected contribution from the study

e) Limitations, if any.

 

SOME IMPORTANT NOTES WHILE PREPARING THE PROJECT REPORT

 

1. The Project Work should be submitted in original in A-4 Size (29 x 20 cm), typed in double space, in a bound volume to the Registrar (BIMS, Pune) by Registered insured post.

 

2. Before binding the Project report the student should ensure that it contains the following:

i) Approved Project Proposal Proforma (original)

ii) Original Approved Synopsis, and

iii) An originality certificate duly signed by the Student.

 

If any Project Report is received in the absence of the above, the same will be returned to the students for compliance.

 

3. Kindly mention on the top of the envelop “PROJECT REPORT”.

 

4. Students should keep a copy of the Project Report with them. The Project Report will not be returned to the student

Contact Programmes & Exams

 

Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) & Examinations

 

  1. BIMS will conduct Personal Contact Programmes (PCPs) and Term end Examinations twice a year i.e. in May / June and Nov. /Dec., at our study centre.
  2. Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) shall be conducted by our experts and experienced faculties to enrich your knowledge in various subjects.
  3. All examinations shall be conducted at our Pune study centre only. The assignment and examination shall carry 100 marks each for the purpose of evaluation, but the weightage of the assignment and the Term end Examination shall be 30% and 70% respectively for determining the final result.
  4. All our students have to compulsorily go through a project work of 200 marks. The Students should send two copies of the title of the synopsis of their project during the Vth semester to enable us to approve the same before the expiry of Vth semester itself to enable the students to go through their project work and internship simultaneously during the VIth semester.

Evaluation System

 

The evaluation system of all the programmes is based on two components:-

 

a) Continuous evaluation in the form of assignments (weightage: 30%)

b) Term-end examination (weightage: 70%)

 

Term-end exams will be held twice every year in the months of May/June and November / December. The Internship project shall be assessed out of 200 Marks. (Weightage: 100%)

 

Award of Final Course Grading

 

♦ For successful completion of the course, a student has to obtain minimum of 40% marks in the assignments as well as the term end examinations. However the overall average of both should not be less than 50%. Following is the system of converting the overall percentage of marks to letter grade and qualitative level:-

In case, any student secures less than 49.9% marks in any assignment or examination respectively, but fails to secure overall 50% of marks, then that student would have an option, either to re-do that assignment or re-appear in that the examination to obtain the minimum requisite overall percentage of marks i.e.50 %.

 

Re-evaluation of Term-end Examination Papers

The students, who are not satisfied with their marks/grades in the Term-end Examination, may apply for re-evaluation. The students can apply for the said re-evaluation by paying Rs. 500/- for each course through a demand draft drawn in favour of Director, BIMS, Pune, payable at Pune, within 45 days of the date of declaration of the result. Requests received after 45 days from the date of declaration of result will not be entertained.

 

Improvement in Division / Class

The students, who have completed the programme and wish to improve their Division / Class, may do so by appearing in the term-end examination. Students may apply for the same along with a fee @ Rs. 500 per course by means of demand draft drawn in favour of Director, BIMS, Pune and payable at Pune. The improvement is permissible in term-end examination only and not in Assignments.

 

Convocation Ceremony

Convocation Ceremony will be held once in a year along with the full-time students of our Institute. All successful students would have the following options: -

 

They can receive their Post Graduate Diplomas during a convocation ceremony.

OR

They can receive their Post Graduate Diplomas through Registered Post/Courier, by paying Rs. 200/- for the same and after filling up the requisite form.

 

Change of Address

Students should communicate their change of address as and when it occurs, so that the study materials and other correspondence can reach them correctly and on time.
